As you prepare for
MUD MANIA, please be sure to read through the following information to insure that you understand the event and have "one helluva good time!"
BACKGROUND
What is the philosophy behind MUD MANIA?
Is MUD MANIA the same as other events out there like Warrior Dash or the Spartan Challenge?
Is MUD MANIA a race?
What is the philosophy behind MUD MANIA?
The answer is simple - MUD MANIA is an adventure race with the simple goal of getting you off the couch and on the most action packed obstacle course we can create. Ask yourself... when is the last time that you got so dirty you weren't sure how much soap it would take to get you clean again? Well here's your chance! And for all you adrenaline junkies out there... remember... this ain't your mom's 5K!
Is MUD MANIA the same as other events out there like Warrior Dash or the Spartan Challenge?
The premise behind the other events out there is that they are a sheer test of toughness, strength and mental grit. These courses are designed to exhaust you, burn you, sometimes even shock you (seriously... go look it up!). While these are really great events - these events aren't for everyone. MUD MANIA is a 5K run designed to appeal to a wide range of athleticism. Whether this is your first event, or your 10th event, the MUD MANIA course can be mastered! It may take some teamwork and you may not have the fastest time in your heat, but you CAN finish this race! And have a great time doing it! Those other events require severe training and mental and physical preparation. If you are in great shape... think of this as a race against yourself - we WILL push you! If you are more of a couch potato... give us 3 miles... we'll get you dirty (and you'll love every minute of it!)
Is MUD MANIA a race?
Yes and no. MUD MANIA is a timed event. Races are divided into Heats that start every 30 minutes throughout the day. There will be up to 300 participants in each Heat. By limiting each Heat to 300 participants, event coordinators can ensure that participants are not standing around (like those "other" events) waiting their turn to complete the obstacles. The course is designed so that everyone begins with a shotgun start and a series of events to thin the pack from the very beginning. Each participant will be able to check their finish time online. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest times in each category posted.

Preparing for MUD MANIA
How should I train for
MUD MANIA?
MUD MANIA is a 5K run that is interrupted by 20+ extreme obstacle challenges. Participants should be able to run, jump, swim, climb, crawl, slide etc. How quickly you are able to perform these will determine your success at completing the course.
What should I wear to
MUD MANIA?
Short Answer: It is imperative that you wear clothes you are comfortable with ruining! Alabama red clay is nearly impossible to remove from clothing and you WILL be neck deep in it at some point. Having said that, think about the essentials: shoes you can run in, light clothing (it will get wet and wet means heavy!). Gloves can be helpful but are not necessary.
Creative Answer: Channel the
MUD MANIA in you! We've seen people run in leisure suits with combat boots, full prom dresses and even a full on penguin costume. Let your imagination run wild!
What should I bring for after the event?
This depends on you and the weather. Some people are so proud of their accomplishment that they will revel in their dirtiness for the post-event celebration. Others will find they have mud in places where mud should not be. For this reason, there will be a rinse off station provided on site. Feel free to bring towels and a change of clothes. If you choose not to rinse off, be sure to consider lining your vehicle for the ride home!
Can I view the course in advance?
An outline of the course can be found
click here. Please note: this is a tentative outline. Event coordinators reserve the right to modify the design at any time to insure the safety of the participants.

Will MUD MANIA be cancelled if there is bad weather?
In the event of rain,
MUD MANIA will continue as planned. If severe weather has been predicted for an extended period of time, event coordinators reserve the right to cancel the event for safety reasons.
Is there a time limit for completing MUD MANIA?
There is no time limit for completing the
MUD MANIA obstacle course. However, participants who do not complete their course in the 30 minute heat time must realize that another heat will be starting before they finish their run.
What is the average finishing time?
This depends on you! The course is a 5K or 3.2 miles. However, there are obstacles that interrupt the run. Your ability to run, jump, swim, climb, crawl, slide etc will determine your finish time.
Can I skip an obstacle?
The way we see it, this is YOUR RUN. You paid to do the course - why not actually do it? You will only get out of it what you put into it. If you think a particular obstacle appears to be too difficult, try it. You will never know what you are capable of if you don't push yourself! While there is no penalty for skipping obstacles, teams wishing to compete for the philanthropy team challenge will be monitored by race marshalls to insure that teams are not skipping obstacles to improve their team finish time. Rather than skipping obstacles, you are encouraged to work together to help each other complete the obstacles in a timely manner. Event coordinators reserve the right to disqualify teams from the philanthropy challenge who are suspected of skipping obstacles for this purpose.
